In the international competition "New Karakoram City Plan" held by the Mongolian government, a team represented by Index Strategy Inc. The team represented by Index Strategy Inc. won 3 places out of 428 teams from all over the world. The top 5 teams, including our group, will move on to the next step in realizing their proposals.

Airi Ikedo, Director of Index Strategy, served as project manager for the project, which was led by world-renowned architect Kengo Kuma of Kuma Architects & Urban Design, HSS Engineering of Malaysia and HSS Engineering of Malaysia, and Masu Planning of Denmark to form a multinational team of experts. Index Corporation and Social System Design Inc. also participated as urban planning experts from our group. </p

The proposal was compiled and submitted in the middle of last month, and group representative Uemura and project manager Ikedo attended the judging committee held in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, and made a presentation together with Mr. Kengo Kuma and his staff Mr. Calvache. As a result, the team placed third out of 428 teams from 56 countries. The proposals of the top five teams, including state-owned enterprises from China and Indonesia, will be further refined and detailed plans for implementation will be drawn up.

New Kharakhorum is planned to be located about 350km west of the capital, Ulaanbaatar, adjacent to the Olkhon Valley. It will take over the functions of the capital, which is now overcrowded, and will form a smart city suitable for the 21st century where people and nature coexist, disseminating cutting-edge industry and culture from Mongolia's new central city. The nearby Kharakhorum is the first capital of the Mongolian Empire, with a long history.
