A consortium of four companies: Index Strategy (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), Maeda Corporation, Portugal's Mota-Engil, and Ghanian firm Strategic Initiatives, are now pursuing contract negotiations phase with the Government of Ghana for a toll road PPP project in Ghana, West Africa. The feasibility study (FS) has already been completed, and the consortium has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ministry of Roads and Highways of the Republic of Ghana regarding contract negotiations for the development and operation of the toll road project planned under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme. The signing ceremony took place during a side event at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), recently held in Yokohama. The project involves operating a newly constructed 44 km expressway and a 55 km section of existing national highway as an integrated PPP initiative over a 30-year period.
