PROJECT
Study on Development of Biomass Energy Generation in the Philippines
TAG
Located in the westernmost part of the Philippines, the island of Palawan is known as the "last unexplored frontier" and is home to a pristine natural environment. To preserve this nature, Index Strategy is working with the city government of Puerto Princesa to develop an eco-friendly smart city.
The project has been awarded as Smart JAMP*, an initiative by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to support Japanese companies to assess viability of emerging Japanese technologies for the smart city development in ASEAN countries. The study will analyze the viability to construct and operate a biomass power generation plant using agricultural wastes including coconut shells and rice husks as well as to introduce a smart grid (next-generation power grid) that controls the amount of electricity from both supply and demand sides using AI/IoT technologies.
